Santos Brasil

4days

reduction in waiting time

Santos Brasil cut waiting time by 4 days and now handles more vessels with the same infrastructure

Context

Santos Brasil operates the largest container terminal in Latin America and accounts for 18% of all container and cargo handling in Brazil.

Challenge and solution

With i4cast® climate intelligence, the terminal improved its vessel line-up management: the port closure risk applied to each maneuver increased the terminal's cargo throughput and improved berth planning.

Result

The ROI analysis was based on the improved line-up management, which increased terminal productivity and made it possible to handle more vessels with the same infrastructure.

Termag · Bunge

12xROI

with more efficient workforce hiring and lineup optimization

Termag returned 12x its investment with more efficient workforce hiring and an optimized lineup using i4cast®

Context

Terminal Marítimo do Guarujá (Termag) belongs to Bunge and handles dry bulk at the Port of Santos.

Challenge and solution

Rain forces stoppages in dry bulk handling. The terminal began making vessel swap and operation stoppage decisions with i4cast®, which increased operational efficiency.

Vattenfall

27×ROI

from increased operational hours

Vattenfall gained safely operable hours and returned 27× with hyperlocal forecasts in the North Sea

Context

Vattenfall is one of Europe's leading renewable energy producers, with offshore operations in the North Sea.

Challenge and solution

The offshore operation needed more safely operable hours in the North Sea. i4cast® hyperlocal forecasts, instead of the global ECMWF model, began supporting the planning of activities at sea.

Transmission operator

24x

more lead time to trigger the contingency plan

Transmission operator now triggers the contingency plan with 24x more lead time

Challenge and solution

Without hyperlocal climate monitoring, the contingency plan is usually triggered with only a few hours' notice, often 4 hours before, when the event is already close. With i4sea, the Operations Center now receives the risk gradation at least 96 hours in advance.

Result

That gives the operator time to mobilize crews, pre-position resources and meet the communication required by ANEEL Resolution 1.137/2025.

  • Chile
Base metals mining company

5 to 9%

reduction in demurrage

Base metals miner in Chile cut demurrage by 5% to 9% by deciding before the event

Context

Base metals mining operation with an export port in Chile.

Challenge and solution

With hyperlocal recommendations per asset (pit, conveyor, internal railway and berth), the operation began deciding on stoppages, maintenance and loading windows days in advance.

Result

The gain showed up in cost: a 5% to 9% reduction in demurrage, with more loading windows captured and an auditable trail for force majeure discussions with the shipowner.

Railway and highway operator

92%

of landslides anticipated, versus 13% before i4sea

Railway and highway operator now anticipates 92% of landslides, versus 13% before i4sea

Challenge

Before i4sea, the sector's most reliable forecasting method saw only 13% of landslides. In practice, 87% of events caught operations by surprise, and the decision to close or reopen the stretch came after the slope had already given way.

Result

With i4sea's climate intelligence, operations went on to anticipate 22 of the 24 monitored landslides. Two cases remain without warning, against the 87% that used to be invisible.

CCCC · Salvador-Itaparica Bridge project

+72hours

of lead time on the project's critical events

Salvador-Itaparica Bridge project gained more than 72 hours of lead time on critical events

Challenge and solution

With hyperlocal recommendations per work front (mobilization and crane use), the engineer began operating with days of lead time.

Result

The project captured more safe windows, avoided accidents, optimized mobilization and built evidence for contractual time extension discussions.

Ultracargo

459

alerts organized into 19 real climate episodes

Ultracargo traded surprise for preparation ahead of lightning, wind and rain at the Port of Santos

Context

Ultracargo's terminal at the Port of Santos has 3 monitored points (Pier, TIS 1 and TIS 2) and 5 climate risks covered: lightning, wind, heavy rain, high temperature and fog. Alerts arrive by email and WhatsApp.

Challenge and solution

i4cast® began monitoring the terminal's 3 points continuously, up to 10 days ahead, and protecting crews working at height and doing industrial rope access against lightning risk. As a result, Ultracargo has fewer last-minute decisions and more confidence to plan the week in advance.

Result

Between June 11 and August 15, 2026, about 2 months of real operation on the platform, 459 alerts were sent (249 lightning, 189 geospatial and 21 radar), grouped into 19 distinct climate episodes: 14 of rain and wind and 5 of lightning.
